PMV BUS
People in NCD complaining so much of the Traffic congestion caused by buses and calling on NCD to operate Buses.
I personally disagree with these;
Here are reasons;
Helpful SME
1) PMV buses is an SME for many citizens of PNG. To tell you the fact, there is no employment at this stage, you looking at current graduates of a year is up to 15 thousand to 20 thousand. (15g to 20g/ 1year). 2000 graduates from PAU, 5000 graduates from UPNG, 5000 graduates from Lae Unitec, 3000 graduates from Divine Word University, University of Goroka with 2000 and others including, Nursing colleges, Business colleges, technical colleges and other colleges. When you literally see this number graduating in a year, we can say it's a multitude. THERE IS NO JOBS at All please trust me.
For these; see how PMV buses helped the citizens of PNG in SME;
Note; there is almost 5 thousand buses currently operating in Port Moresby alone. Here are the beneficiaries of PMV buses in SME.
1) benefits almost 5 thousand PNG bus owners and their families.
2) benefits 10 thousand Buses drivers and bus crews.
3) benefits up 10 thousand machines, penal beaters, wiring man and service man.
4) Benefits up to 2 thousand car wash people.
Therefore, the operation of PMV buses creates employment for almost 27 thousand Papua New Guineans. The matter of fact, the government can't even afford for such a great number like this.
2nd Note:
Compare if the government is operating this Buses as government entities. Will there be any beneficiaries as these? If we say Government, then there will be only 50 to 100 big Buses to operate in pom and only 50 to 100 drivers only will be paid and 10 mechanics to be paid. How about others Papua New Guineans?
BUSES pays Greater government tax
Operating a PMV BUS in 1 day consumes fuel up to K120 to K150 a day. So you can calculate like this; 10% of 120 is like 12 per buses paid each day. K 12 × 5000= K60000 each day the PMV buses are paying tax to the government each day. Compared to others private cars, the fuel consumption is low. For Eg; I own a private car and I normally put k40 to k50 for 3 days. For this I can say that private cars pays less than PMV buses. Services parts; individuals buses services parts costs up to k300, the total tax would be k30 per bus. K30×5000=k150000.00 tax for services parts.
Okay now see this;
If the government operates buses; there will not be any tax paid? NOT MUCH.
why? Because only 50 to 100 buses will be operating and the fuel will be provided privately without tax.
Registeration Payment costs K4000 for each buses
I own a bus and I usually pay up to K4000 each year only for registeration of my bus. K2900 for Registeration sticker, K600 for PMV sticker, K60 for safety sticker etc.. adds up to almost k4000 .
So, here is our calculation paid for only PMV buses paid each year as registeration:
K4000×5000 buses=K20000000.00.
Okay now we know that only buses pay up to these amounts.
Okay Now HATERS; open your eyes and see how much the BUSES ARE DOING AND NOW YOU CAN HAVE A CLEAR PICTURE OF THIS AND STOP ALL THIS SMALL THINGS ABOUT TRAFFIC JAM, CONGESTION AND COMPLAINING THAT THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD REMOVE BUSES AND PROVIDE FREE BUSES. HAVE SOME SENSE.
