PNG is PNG's OWN WORST ENEMY

By Leonard Lawara_

a true story-MUST read

*PNG SME & PNG AGAINST PNG*

I live in a street in Port Moresby. A neighbour has a canteen set-up down the street which was operating inconsistently (before). One day I approached the storekeeper to advise the owner that I was interested to rent the canteen (if they had problems running it) and would like to meet the owner. I indicated that I would pay whatever rental he wanted as I have some experience running trade store and a mini-printery in a settlement suburb.

After waiting for a feedback for some time, I followed up with the storekeeper if there was any response from the landlord.

Before I finished my sentence, he quickly interrupted, "sori, mipla yet la ronim." I responded nicely with a smile and walked away, and continued to be a faithful customer to the irregular operations.

The proposed meet-up with the landlord didn't eventuate. The landlord has other businesses and sources of income as well.

After few months on a Monday morning, boom! the canteens opens fully-stock, with advert posters all over making it different and attractive.

Seated at the corner was a Bangladeshi male providing a human-CCTV over a young PNG girl busy tidying up the shelves while serving customers.

The scene brought tears inside me.

*PNGans need to be genuine patriots and act responsibly when it comes to such situations at all scales.*

We cannot be giving away business opportunities to these Asians, then keep complaining that they're taking over the country. PNGans need to be strong and give preference to our own countrymen in business opportunities.

God bless PNG
